Volunteer

We have a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year. If one of these positions appeals to you, please call 502-426-0888, or send an email to info@pscky.org. Please check back frequently, as our needs change throughout the year. Have something in mind that you'd like to do, but don't see it here? Give us a call! Areas of current critical need are marked with an asterisk.

*Volunteer Coordinator
We are actively seeking a volunteer coordinator to schedule and train volunteers throughout the year.

Special Events Helpers
We often need folks to help us with registration, directing traffic and other tasks that make our events enjoyable for those attending. The three main areas of need:

  1. Denim & Diamonds Volunteers: Enjoy our Denim & Diamonds celebration while helping this annual fundraiser run smoothly. Prefer to work behind the scenes? We also need folks to approach area businesses for donations for the Silent and Live Auctions for our 2011 event on June 3.
  2. Regional Symposium on Parkinson's Disease: The Frances Lang annual symposium on Parkinson's draws folks from across the region to learn more about PD. This year it will be on November 15 at the Holiday Inn Hurstbourne. We need many volunteers to help the day flow smoothly. At the same time, you'll get to hear world-class experts on PD discuss the latest in therapies, research and practical tips for living well with Parkinson's.
  3. Lunch & Learn Volunteers: Our monthly educational program always needs a volunteer or two (sometimes more!) to help with check-in.

*Support Group Hosts
As more and more neighborhood support groups form, we need people to volunteer to serve as hosts for these groups. Hosts make sure meetings run smoothly: that attendance is taken, newcomers welcomed and the lights are turned off after the meeting! Hosts receive updated information from PSCKY about Parkinson's disease, materials to distribute to group members, and news of events, seminars and conferences. Visit here to read more about the neighborhood support group model. You do not have to have Parkinson's disease to be a support group host; many times, caring family members, spouses or community members who know someone with PD step into this role!

Office & Project Helpers
We are recruiting helpers to keep our information packs stocked. We can also use your help with small office projects, such as answering the phone, preparing materials for the Frances Lang Symposium on November 15 and assembling materials for our neighborhood-based support groups.

*Be Part of the Fundraising Team
We need a variety of talents to assist our Board-led Fundraising team. If you're smart about money, have creative ideas about fundraising, or you have a passion for communicating your belief in the programs and services of PSCKY, this may be the place for you!
